Firstly please accept my apologies for breach of etiquette for posting in the Forum before posting an introduction.

I have had an interest in 32Bn for a long long time, but only just found your excellent website. This interest stems from my ties with Southern Africa, my Father was an ex RAF man who settled in Rhodesia, he did some kind of service there as some kind of reserve Policeman. He moved to SA when Crazey Bob took over !

I visited SA many times in the 80's and eventually went to live in SA in the early 90's. I still have many family and friends in SA, some of them are ex servicemen who served in Angola and South West.

I am now living in the UK, and am a military reservist here. Part of my reason for joining the forum is to maybe pick the brains of some of the Veterans here about their experiences of fighting a counter insurgency war in Angola and SW, as this may help me and my comrades during our impending call up.

I look forward to chatting and hearing what you guys have to say.

Rob

Howzit Guys, hey good to hear that accent again, brings me back to the sunshine.

Thankyou for the welcome.

Like l said above, l would like to pick you guys brains about the border. What they are struggling with in Ghaners is the IED's, we are losing a lot of good men out there. I know the Cubans and MPLA Terrs used to improvise 'Double Cheeseburgers and other landmine combos, and l want to ask about your training to counter them, and any personal techniques you used ?

Anyway maybe the open forum is not the best place to talk about such things, is it okay if l personal mail some of you guys ?

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob

Hang in a while .... most of the guys are still settling in back home after the Savate Memorial weekend. The forum will warm up in a day or two. As for the military stuff, give the guys a chance to get to know you a little better. Some guys are wary of getting involved with some one they dont know. You just never know who is out there!
