For those of you who watched last night's program, the ANC despite all their recent claims of fighting heroically at Cuito, all they could show was a pony tailed white scum named David van Wyk. David van Wyk claims to be a 31BN vet and in last night's program shed a few crocadile tears.

Well this chap has blog, in which he has a few not so nice things to say about 32 Battalion( he also mentions Pomfret). Some of you might be interested in asking him a few questionds in his page:

Dont' you guys ever get tired arguing about the same thing over and over again?

I also posted on Davids Blog and I am adding the post to the bottom of this entry. (a spell checked one).

Isn't it about time that we let go of the past and concentrate on the present, like helping the 32Bn Community in Pomfret and other veterans . I am sure they couldnt'give a rats a$$ on the outcome of the war. They just want a better life.

So all of us that are in a poistion of helping we should stop arguing about the outcome of a war. We can argue untill we are blue in the face, supporting one outcome or another it's not going to change anything, nor is it going to improve any ones quality of life.

Here is my blog entry. Some of you wont like it. To you I say tough, live with it, as thats the way I see it.

And guess what I was there during ops moudlar, pos hooper, ops packer and ops displace. I was a member of a unit called BRUSH (Bush Reconnaissance Unit for Signal HQ) those of you that claim to be ex-service men if you had a high enough security clearance then you would know who we were.
I have to agree with some of you by saying that the old SADF did definitely win the battles. This can be proven over and over again by statistics, some of them in this blog.
The real question that is being asked is did we (SADF) win the war and there is only one conclusion that can be reached, and that is a definitive NO.
Without taking away anything from the countless heroic acts of the SADF during the war, we need to understands that wars are not fought or won by armies in the real world they are won by politics. Armies are but a tool that politicians use to wage war. The whole sad saga in Angola was started by politics and ultimately ended by politics.
So now we can ask ourselves the following-
Did the South African government attain there political goals ( to get rid of communism in Angola and Namibia)?
This answer can be found in the present
- Angola is being governed by FAPLA the very “communist ” the SADF were ordered to fight
-Nambia is being governed by SWAPO the very “communist ” the SADF were ordered to fight
-RSA is being governed by ANC the very “communist ” the SADF were ordered to fight.
I suppose that the above indicates that the government that waged war on FAPLA, SWAPO and the ANC by using the SADF must have lost the WAR as all the forces they faught are now running the respective countries.
Whether you like or dislike the outcome of the war is inconsequential when it comes to the debate on who won the WAR.
Remember Armies win Battles and Politicians win Wars. And that is the sad reality of any war.
