I have just received this from Rhodesia and maybe maybe the shit as it the fan and fireworks are starting.

For those of you who know my locstat in Chadcombe (Hatfield) will know that I am located further South from where the "Troopie" used to stand, towards the balancing rocks of Epworth.
Well tonight for about ten minutes we were entertained to a sound and light show from what I strongly believe to be those barracks. Don't worry, first off I was not about to jump into my motor to go and investigate as I do not have sufficient petrol, AND the hondo has not started. There was no crackle or pop of small arms. It had all the signatures of a bunch of ordinance going up in smoke. Probably through human error. Some wonderful White Light flashes lighting up the sky, like phosphorous putting on a Guy Fawkes night display. Some big bangs as well but not the crump of a landing piece of ordinance and there was no vibration in ones feet, so all the explosive energy was going skywards!
Humm, maybe we do need that Chinese arms delivery after all?
